Hibiscus and Palm Oil Soap

Introduction: Hibiscus and palm oil soap is a cold process bar made from palm oil, coconut oil, lye and water, with hibiscus powder and petals for pink colour and gentle exfoliation. Virgin coconut oil adds hardness and abundant lather to the bar.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. palm oil

  • 4 oz. coconut oil

  • 1.77 oz. (50 g) lye

  • 3.54 oz. (100 g) distilled water

  • 1/4 cup hibiscus powder

  • 1/4 cup hibiscus petals

  • Essential oils (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the lye solution: Combine lye and distilled water in a heat-resistant container. Stir until the lye is completely dissolved.

  2. Melt the oils: Melt the palm oil and coconut oil together in a double boiler.

  3. Combine: Carefully pour the lye solution into the melted oils and blend until the mixture reaches trace.

  4. Add hibiscus: Stir in the hibiscus powder and petals until evenly distributed.

  5. Add essential oils: If desired, add your favorite essential oils to the mixture.

  6. Pour into molds: Pour the soap batter into your chosen molds.

  7. Cure: Allow the soap to cure for at least 4-6 weeks before use.

Why Make This Soap: This soap is perfect for those seeking a rich and creamy lather. The palm oil moisturizes and nourishes the skin, while the hibiscus petals provide a gentle exfoliation. The vibrant pink hue of the soap adds a touch of natural beauty.
