You've got the kit — here's everything you need

Ingredients

Shea Butter
Equal parts · penetrates deeply, moisture base
Cocoa Butter
25g · protective barrier

You'll also need from home

Double boiler To gently melt your butters
Hand mixer or spatula For whipping to a cloud-like soufflé texture
Clean glass jar To store your finished soufflé

Directions

Step One:
Melt (5–10 min) — combine equal parts shea butter and cocoa butter in a heat-safe bowl over a double boiler. Once fully melted and mixed, strain and place in the refrigerator until cool and the top begins to harden slightly.
Step Two:
Whip (3–4 min) — blend with a mixer on high speed for 3–4 minutes or longer, until you reach a light, cloud-like consistency.
Step Three:
Jar (1 min) — spoon your whipped soufflé into a clean, airtight glass jar. Optional: add 3–5 drops of essential oil before the final whip, or leave it natural.

Pro Tips:

Before you start
  • The cooler the mixture when you whip it, the lighter and fluffier the soufflé — just make sure your mixer is up to it
  • Equal parts makes scaling easy — 50g of shea means 50g of cocoa butter, so make as much or as little as you want
  • If it deflates or melts in warm weather, simply remelt, cool slowly, and re-whip — store away from heat sources

Frequently Asked Questions

Why only two ingredients?
That's the beauty of it — this is the simplest possible DIY body butter recipe. Shea butter penetrates deeply to hydrate, while cocoa butter locks that moisture in. Together they create a complete moisturizer with no synthetic additives, no fillers, and no mystery ingredients. It's also the perfect starting point if this is your first DIY skincare project.
How long does the finished soufflé last?
Your finished soufflé will keep for 6 to 12 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Because it contains no water, no preservative is needed. Using a clean, dry spoon each time helps extend the shelf life. The raw ingredients themselves keep for 2+ years when stored properly.
My whipped butter deflated or melted — why?
This usually means it was whipped while still too warm, or stored somewhere warm — shea butter melts at around 35–38°C, so a hot bathroom or a car in the sun will collapse the whipped texture. No harm done: simply remelt completely, cool slowly in the refrigerator, and whip again.
Am I a beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely — this is the most beginner-friendly kit we offer. If you can melt butter and use a hand mixer, you can make this soufflé. The whole process takes about 30 minutes: melt, cool, whip, and jar. Full instructions are also included on the packaging via QR code.
What size kit should I buy?
The kit comes in sizes from 50g to 2kg of each ingredient, always in equal parts. The 50g or 100g sizes are perfect for a first batch or a gift; larger sizes suit regular use or making batches for family and friends. Because the recipe is equal parts, it scales easily to any amount.
Does this support women in Ghana?
Yes, directly. The shea butter in your kit is hand-processed by women like Abudi Asana of the Kperisi community, part of the Konjeihi Women's Enterprise Centre in Ghana's Upper West Region. Every purchase supports fair wages, children's education, and community infrastructure through a direct fair-trade relationship — no middlemen taking a cut.
